NORWICH – Merrie A. Horton, 53, of Norwich, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home after a long and courages battle with kidney failure.
Merrie was born March 17, 1959 in New Berlin, the daughter of the late Robert and Janice Law Ward. She was educated in the Norwich schools. Merrie was an avid prayer warrior and a guardian angel to many, always helping the elderly and underprivileged.
Merrie will be greatly missed by all.
Merrie is survived by her sons Leon Horton of Sherburne, Scott Cole and his family of North Carolina, her daughter Jennifer Wilcox, her brother and sister-in-law Robert Ward Jr. and wife Mildred, her sister and brother-in-law Laura Horton and husband Peter. Also surviving are one aunt Isabel Culver along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Merrie was predeceased by her husband Harold Horton.
A celebration of life for Merrie will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. from the Norwich Township Grange Hall.
“God looked around his garden and saw an empty place. He then looked down from heaven and saw my tired face. He knew that I was suffering and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around me and whispered ‘come to me.’”
