SHERBURNE – Doris P. Biviano, 84, of Classic St., passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at UHS/Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Freeport, a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Mollenkopf Purdy. She was a 1946 graduate of Baldwin High School on Long Island. Doris had married Charles A. Webb and Joseph J. Biviano, both of whom predeceased her. While living in Sherburne, she had worked at Webb & Sons, T.A.C.O., Purdy & Sons and several area grocery stores in Sherburne and Norwich before retiring from Victory Markets. She later moved back to Long Island to be with her father and returned to Sherburne in 2001. Doris was a hardworking and energetic person who enjoyed many pursuits including gardening, knitting and crocheting, yard and farm sales and auctions. She had an affinity for animals of all kinds, horses, heifers, goats, squirrels, crows, rabbits, dogs and especially cats. She nursed many of them back to health from abandonment, trauma or illness.
Surviving are her children, William C. Webb of Buffalo; Susan M. Papelino of Colonial Heights, VA; Warren G. and Karen (Garito) Webb of Norwich; and Sharon E. Webb of Sherburne; grandchildren, Kyle M. and Elizabeth Papelino of Colonial Heights, VA; Stephanie A. and Joseph Gallant of Rochester, NY; Gregory C. Webb of Bronx, NY; a great-grandson, Judah A. Gallant; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Geraldine “Gerry” Purdy of Henderson, NV; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Richard Purdy, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in the Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 3-6 p.m. prior to the service.
