WILLET – Dorwin T. (Sandy) Wilkins, 66, of Willet, passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Lourde’s Hospital, Binghamton, following an extended illness.
Sandy was born in West Bloomfield, Mich. on Feb. 23, 1940, a son of the late Dorwin and Madelyn Rice Wilkins. A longtime resident of the area, he retired from both ETL-Semco, Cortland and Cortland Cooperative Extension. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Willet Fire Department and the Knickerbocker Country Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Loma MacDonald Wilkins, of Willet; a daughter, Kathy Wilkins of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a son, Timothy Wilkins of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and sisters, Dee Cox of Saginaw, Mic.I and Kaye Grames of Sumter, S.C. He is also survived by a stepson, Peter (Debbie) DeVinne of Norwich, and two grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal calling hours or funeral services.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Sandy’s life at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Willet Fire Station.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Sandy may be made to the Willet Rescue Squad, c/o Margaret Yarnes, Willet, NY 13863. Arrangements have been entrusted to the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus.
