MARIAN KNICKERBOCKER
CINCINNATUS – Marian L. (Randall) Knickerbocker, 91, of Cincinnatus, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at her home.
Born in Pitcher on Feb. 16, 1922, Mrs. Knickerbocker was a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Baldwin Randall. A lifelong resident of this area, she attended the Pitcher Federated Church. She was a 1940 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and attended Cazenovia College and Cortland Business School. On Aug. 19, 1943, she married Richard E. Knickerbocker who was killed in action on May 12, 1944, in Fleers, France, while serving in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. She was a member of the Knickerbocker Country Club, former president of the Cincinnatus American Legion Auxiliary, former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cincinnatus Chapter, and a lifetime member of the Cincinnatus Heritage Society. In her earlier years, she worked at the C&U Telephone Company. She retired as the Cincinnatus Elementary School secretary after 21 years of service.
She is survived by her son, Richard M. (Sandra) Knickerbocker, of N. Potomac, MD; granddaughters, Terri (Michael) Baker of Tracy, CA, and Randall Knickerbocker of Manhattan; and a grandson, Malcolm Knickerbocker of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves behind her great-granddaughters, Amanda, Ashley, and Cheyanne; a great-grandson, Cody; sister-in-law, Edith Randall, of Cincinnatus; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Cincinnatus Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.
