Sylvia Devoe
HARPURSVILLE – Sylvia May DeVoe (Burkholder), 72, of Harpursville, passed away, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013.
She is predeceased by her parents, Elden and Elsie Burkholder and her siblings, Anna, Elden Jr., Steve, and Doug.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Roser, Whitney Point, Penny Hurlbut (Chuck), Vestal, Skeet Stevens, Binghamton, Roberta Layton (Don), Brisban, and Scott Stevens, Vestal. Also, surviving, her sister, Juanita Morgan (Wayne), Binghamton.
Sylvan has 21 grandchildren, Heather, Donnie, Justin, Nick, Ryan, Jamie, Todd, Autumn, McKayla, Madison, Ashley, Geoffrey, Jereme, Cody, Zac, Mya, Maxx, Jaiden, Briannah, Ricky, and Clara.
Sylvia worked as a therapy aid at the Binghamton Psychiatric Center for 29 years until retirement. She loved her family and many friends and would do anything for anybody.
She enjoyed traveling to Florida each winter and trips to the St. Lawrence in the summer.
Our family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. for their kind and compassionate care.
Calling hour is 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the First Baptist Church, 38 Canal St, Port Crane. Pastor Dan Baker will officiate. A private burial service will be at a later date.
