PLYMOUTH – Edith I. (Susie) Parker, 75, of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday evening, Feb. 20, 2013, at her home in Plymouth.
Susie was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Huron, the daughter of Alfred and Edith Hillsinger Ritz. She grew up in the Huron area and was a graduate of the Wolcott High School. At the age of 18, Susie came to the Chenango County area where she continued to make her home for the next 56 years. Over the years she had worked for the Norwich High School in the cafeteria and also the Chenango County Cooperative Extension Office. For many years Susie had worked in several area homes as a private home health care aide.
Considered a saint by many and devoted to her family, Susie was always there for her family offering support, guidance and friendship. She was a faithful and dedicated 40-plus year member of the Norwich Seventh Day Adventist Church and over the years volunteered her time for many projects and positions.
On Dec. 29, 1955, in DeRuyter, she married Wilson “Bill” Parker, who passed away Dec. 16, 1992.
Susie is survived by her children; Susan Bishop (Arthur) of Plymouth, Bonnie Pack (Joe) of Dayton, MD, Barbette Welsh (Chip) of Laurel, MD, Faith Brown (Wayne) of Norwich, Calvin Parker of Plymouth, Timothy Parker of Smyrna and David Parker of Plymouth. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband Bill, Susie was predeceased by her brothers Albert Hillsinger and Alfred, Joseph and Richard Ritz.
A funeral service for Susie will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor Roy Morris will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the South Side Cemetery of Plymouth.
