NORWICH – Ellery Gager, 81, of County Rt. 19, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at his home.
He was born May 23, 1931 in Otsego, a son of Charles and Mable Townsend Gager and received his education in local schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On May 5, 1954, Ellery married Joyce I. Crandall in Taylor. Ellery worked at Amphenol in Sidney until his retirement. He had previously been a dairy farmer and worked for the Town of Plymouth Highway Department. He was a talented handyman who loved building things, including three houses. He also enjoyed his time spent mowing.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; his children, Arlene Ingraham of Fabius; Ellery, Jr. and Carol Gager of Norwich; Arthur and Linda Gager of Norwich; Gene Gager and Sonya of Guilford; Melody Roberson of Greene; Denny and Tiffany Gager of Norwich; sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Jerry Cappadonia of Sherburne; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
