NORWICH – Loretta L. Lelik, 42, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at her home.
Loretta was born on July 13, 1970 in Norwich, the daughter of Gordon D. and Pamela Duell Smith. She spent most of her life in the Norwich, Binghamton and Ithaca areas and attended school in Binghamton. For most of her working career, Loretta worked as a home health care aide in Chenango County and the Binghamton area. She also did child day care and had worked for the Lord of the Rings in Kentucky.
A woman with a big heart, Loretta was very easy to talk to. She enjoyed talking to people and they would often go to her to talk out their problems. Outspoken and to the point at times, you never had to wonder what was on her mind.
Loretta is survived by mother Pamela Coryell, her life partner Linda Murray both of Norwich, her son Christopher Smith of Oriskany Falls, her step-children Cameron and Zachary Babcock, her “Big Sister” Bonnie Barrett and brother-in-law Steven English and her brother Brian Babcock all of Norwich. Also surviving are her grandchildren Kristin, Jaden and Hayden Smith.
Loretta was predeceased by her father Gordon D. Smith.
A funeral service for Loretta will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor Brad Keator of the Chenango Christian Church of Norwich will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.
