George Ballard, 81, went to meet his Lord with the love of his life Pat Rubin, his son George Jr., Rev. Jim Ritter, and a good friend Robert Berrios by his side.
George lived most of his life in New York State. He is survived by his favorite sister, Rosie Jones, of Franfort, one brother Lish, and three other sisters, Minnie, Flora, and Mary Jo. He also has four daughters and two sons that still live in upstate New York: Diane, Candy, Virginia, Hope, George, and John. He had special friends: Jeff and B, Cliff and Charlene, Kristin, Cory, Cole, Ava, and Aubri Harris, who were all like family to him. He also had a special neighbor and friend, Gail Smith. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jessica Billups, Jorge Ballard, Jacob Ballard, and Jennifer Walker, all of Virginia. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom reside in the Norwich area. And also many friends.
He worked many long years at Raymond Corporation in Greene, and owned his own scrap yard business in Oxford. He was an active member of the booster club in Hartfield and was a dedicated worker for the Middlesex County Food Bank. He was a member of the Piankatank Worship Group and Lower United Methodist Church.
He was loved by all he met. May he rest in peace.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lower United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 28.
