Irene Cahill
EARLVILLE – Irene Cahill, 93, passed away April 3, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Warwick, NY.
She was born November 4, 1919 in Prices Switch, Vernon, NJ, a daughter of Russell and Rethie Masker Decker. Irene married Kenneth “Carpy” Cahill of New Milford, NY on November 10, 1935 in Glenwood, NJ. They enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. Irene owned the former Launderette on Forester Ave. in Warwick, NY and thought a great deal of her customers. Retired at 59, she moved upstate to Earlville with her husband where they enjoyed their retirement together until he passed away in 1994. Irene returned to Warwick in April 2009. Her family and friends were the center of her life.
Besides her beloved husband, Kenneth, she was predeceased by her daughter, Carole, and son-in-law, Freeman Masker; half-brother, Robert Decker; her parents; a grandson, Darren Masker; step-mom and dad, Lena Decker and Fred Babcock.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robert Ibbetson of Warwick; sister, Doris Bertholf of GA; half-sister, Shirley Wedeking of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Dawn Palmer and her partner, Peter Lounsbury of Hamilton; Kenneth and wife, Marybeth Masker of Ontario, NY; Darrell and wife, Dianne Masker of Madison; step-grandchildren, Gayle and husband Scott Tuthill of Washingtonville, NY; and Robert Dykstra of Beacon, NY; beloved great-grandchildren Brian, Daniel and Derrick Masker; Kimberly and husband, Jacob Lepcio; Leanne and husband Martin Moreira; and Stacy Palmer; step-great-grandchildren, Paul and Susan Tuthill; great-great-grandson, Chad Masker; great-great-step-granddaughter, Jayden Rose Tuthill; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial will in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, at 11 a.m. Monday.
