SHERBURNE – Mary H. Foster, 94, of Sherburne, formerly of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
She was born May 2, 1918 in Lyons Falls, NY a daughter of William and Mary Mealus Hovey and was a graduate of Sherburne Central School. On October 6, 1940, Mary married Charles W. Foster in Sherburne. They moved to Georgetown in 1943 where Mary spent most of her life as a homemaker devoted to caring for her family. Charles predeceased her on September 18, 2000. Mary was a member of the Georgetown Methodist Church and the Georgetown Community Chest.
Surviving are her children, Brenda and Ralph Griffiths of Sherburne; Sharon and Caz Markowski of West Eaton; sisters, Maxine McCarty and Dorothy Marsters, both of Sherburne; 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Bradley C. Foster in 1990; sister, Helen Laure; three brothers, Louis, Vic and Donald Hovey; and a grandson-in-law, Lewis Buell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Georgetown.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
