OXFORD – Robert E. Jackson, 82, of Oxford, passed away on Jan. 26, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse. He was born on Feb. 24, 1924 in Milford, NY the son of the late Earl and Margaret (Potter) Jackson. On March 19, 1947 he married Dorothy Tripp, who died on Sept. 20, 1987.
He is survived by his children: Donna and James Carr of Gilbertsville and their children, Kellie Carr of Ohio, Kimberley and Paul Valdez of Brooklyn, James and Brenda Jackson of Pittsfield and their children, Dwayne and Becky Jackson of Pittsfield, and Jennifer Jackson of Oneonta, Douglas and Cyndi Jackson of Greene and Florida and their children, Stacy Jackson of Florida, Michelle and Terry Sutton of Florida and Christine Jackson. Seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. His loving fiancée, Betty Benedict also survives.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a long time independent long haul truck driver. He was a loving, giving soul willing to help anyone in need. In later life he enjoyed fixing lawn mowers.
At his request there will be no services or visiting hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Oxford, PO Box 566, Oxford, or the Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse.
