SOUTH PLYMOUTH – Ronald P. Sayles Jr., 75, of South Plymouth, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Upstate Medical Center of Syracuse.
Ron was born in Norwich on Jan. 30, 1938 the son of Ronald P. and Jessie Whaley Sayles Sr. He was a graduate of the Oxford school and served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960. On Oct. 26, 1962 he married Gladys Bartholomew Sayles who survives. Ron had been employed for 38 years as a machinist for Pall Trinity Micro (PTM) of Cortland from which he retired.
In his spare time Ron enjoyed his hunting, fishing and his John Deere tractors.
Ron is survived by his wife, Gladys, his mother, Jessie Sayles, of Norwich, his children, Timothy and Theodore Sayles, both of Cuyler, Jessica Sayles, of Norwich, Yolanda Sayles, of Ind., Zachary Sayles, of Cuyler, Forrest Sayles, of So. Plymouth, Justin Sayles and wife Cheryl, of Smyrna, Loretta Sayles, of Greene, and Veronica Cohan, of Norwich; as well as his sisters, Marilyn Meade and husband Earl, of Oxford, Jean Hammond and husband Philip, of McDonough, Shirley McFall and husband David, of Whitney Point, and his brother, Albert Sayles and wife Donna, of Ohio. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services with military rites for Ron will be held at the convenience of the family from the Mt. Hope Cemetery with Jerry Sayles officicating.
There will be no calling hours.
