CORTLAND – Ruth M. Clough, 96, of Cortland, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, with her family by her side at the Cortland Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cortland, NY, following a brief illness.
Ruth was born in the Town of German, NY on April 29, 1917, a daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Hull) Clough. A lifelong resident of this area, she retired from Gladding Corporation in South Otselic after 61 years of service. She was a 1935 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and graduated as an LPN from Vernoyes Nursing School and also graduated from beautician school in Syracuse. In her spare time, Ruth was active with the Otselic Valley Grange. She was a loving and caring sister and aunt and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her nieces, Cathy (Ronald) Funk of Marathon, Elsie (Bruce) Wilcox of Syracuse, Chris (Bill) Weishaupt of Bushnell, FL, and Gail (Jim) Alcott of Glenmoore, PA; nephews, Gary (Kathy) Clough of Cambridge, MD and Joe (Marie) Clough of Auburndale, FL. She also leaves behind several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Mary Jones, Kenneth Clough, Beulah Baldwin, Ralph Clough, and Jack Clough; several nieces and nephews; and a very dear close friend who was like a brother, Richard Auwarter.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at Valley View Cemetery, South Otselic, at the convenience of the family.
