ARLINGTON – Debbie L. Barker-James, 54, a resident of Blackberry Ridge Road in Arlington, VT, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Debbie was born in Norwich, NY on May 6, 1959 the daughter of Stanley A. and Betty (Pollock) Barker. She attended schools in Sherburne graduating from Sherburne-Earlville High School and earning her Associates of Business Management from the Community College of Vermont. Debbie worked for over fifteen years in the accounting department for the Bank of Bennington. Prior to moving to Vermont she worked for Chesebrough-Ponds in Sherburne, NY as a Floor Leader. Debbie enjoyed gardening, travelling, following and watching her sons play sports, especially soccer. She loved her dogs, enjoyed different kinds of music and Native American Culture, including wolves. She loved her home, especially landscaping and decorating her home and cherished times spent with her family.
Debbie is survived by her husband, William L. James, whom she married May 18,1985 in Sherburne, NY, her sons Branden S. and Nathan S. James, both of Arlington, her mother Betty I. Barker, her father-in-law Donald V. James, her brothers Stanley J. Barker and his wife Doreen of Sparta, Tennessee, Larry H. Barker and his wife Rosemary of Sherburne, NY, David A. Barker and his wife Sandy of Earlville, NY and Terry L. Barker and his friend Lorie of Hubbardsville, NY, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Stanley A. Barker and her mother-in-law Judith R. James.
Funeral services for Debbie will be held at 11 a.m. on June 22, 2013 at the Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel. Interment will be private. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 21, 2013 when the family will be in attendance.
