OXFORD – Clyde K. Horton, 72 of Oxford passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2013 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY. He was born on May 11, 1941 in Norwich the son of the late Lewis and Thelma (Harvey) Horton. On June 3, 1961 he married Sharon Jones, who survives.
Besides his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his daughters, Pamela and Daniel Stein, of Oxford, and Theresa Horton and Rick Carl, also of Oxford; his grandchildren, Brett Gates and Alyssa Falciani, Denelle and Buddy Northup, Nick and Caitlyn Gates, and Chad Stein and Christina Feyerabend; and his great grandchildren, Catherine, Julia and Kevin Northup, and Rori and Nathan Gates; his sister-in-law, Donna Wright and four nieces. He was predeceased by his sister and brother in law, Linda and Robert DuMond, and brother in law, Paul Wright. He is also survived by his good friends, Ralph and Phyllis Lowe.
Clyde graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School. He had worked for Proctor & Gamble for many years prior to his retirement. He was a long time member of the Oxford Fire Department. He loved hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren and Rich Anthony. He loved to travel on bus trips. He and Sharon liked to travel to the Amish Country and Myrtle Beach. He enjoyed camping at Old Forge. He also liked his morning coffee with his friends in the local restaurants. Family and friends were a very important part of his life.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on June 28 from the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY, with Richard Howard, Chaplain of the Oxford Fire Department, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
