SOUTH PLYMOUTH – Margaret J. (Hackett) Bennett, 96, of South Plymouth, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at the home of her son in Smyrna, NY.
She was born November 26, 1916 in McDonough, NY, a daughter of Willard and Ettie Hackett, and received her education in local schools. On November 17, 1945, Margaret married Walter L. Bennett in Plymouth, NY. He predeceased her on November 21, 1998. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker who devoted her life to the care of her family. She had also assisted her husband in the operation of their dairy farm.
Surviving are her children, Arthur and Joan Bennett of Smyrna; Maurice and Judy Bennett of South Plymouth; Elizabeth Altrock of Albany; grandchildren, Melissa and James Grant of Sherburne, NY; Wade and Amie Bennett of Albany; and Brent Bennett of South Plymouth; great-grandchildren, Taylor Alexis and Bryleigh Grant of Sherburne; Joshua and Hailie Bennett of Albany; and Ian Bennett of South Plymouth. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Gail Bennett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on August 2, 2013 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St. Sherburne, NY, followed by interment in the Cole Hill Cemetery, Beaver Meadow, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
