NORWICH – Janette C. Meagher, 74, of Norwich and former longtime resident of the Guilford area, passed away Sat., July 20, 2013.
Janette was born in East Guilford on Aug. 22, 1938 the daughter of John and Jennie Wayman Burt. She grew up in Guilford where she attended the local school. On Dec. 22, 1973 in Guilford she married Robert L. Meagher, who passed away March 30, 1990. Over the years she had worked at the Norwich Shoe Co. for more than 25 years and also worked as a bartender for the Norwich Moose Club.
Janette is survived by her nieces and nephews Ed Houck III and wife Lynette, Debbie Myers, Bobbi Jo Houck and Allan Homovich, Bonnie Thomas, Guy Houck, Carol and Marty Johnson, Brian and Debbie Burt, John and Nancy Burt, several great and great great nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law Ed Houck and her special friend Nancy Miner.
Besides her husband, Janette was predeceased by her sister Beverly Houck, her brothers Guy and Charles Burt and friend James Merchant Sr.
Graveside services for Janette will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, from the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Nancy Hale, Pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church will officiate.
