NORWICH – Gloria Whiteman, 68, of Norwich, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Gloria was born in Walton, NY on Feb. 2, 1945 the daughter of William and Ruth Shepard Davis. She attended school in Norwich and had worked for the Norwich Shoe Co. A gifted singer, Gloria in the early years of her adult life sang with several country and western singers. In 1967, she moved to Long Island where she made her home for many years. While in Long Island, she owned and operated her own cleaning business, worked as a chambermaid for Holiday Inn and also worked for Natures Bounty. In 2003, Gloria moved back to Norwich where she continued to make her home.
On Sept. 1, 1985 in Patchouge, LI she married Harold Whitemen who survives.
Besides her husband Harold, Gloria is survived by her daughter, Coral Carhart of Greene, her son, Lyn Burbank of Vero Beach, FL, her grandchildren Anthony Jr., Christopher, Shawna, Samantha and Bryan. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Zoey, Adam, Aliyah, her mother-in-law Maybelle Whiteman, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gloria was predeceased by her sister Golda Button and brother Albert Davis.
Funeral services for Gloria will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2013 from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours.
