NORWICH – Howard W. Miller Jr., 61, of Norwich, passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 5, 2007 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Howard was born Feb. 16, 1945 in Sidney the son of Howard W. and Gertrude Wilber Miller Sr. He grew up in the Norwich area and attended the Oxford schools. Living in Norwich for many years he had worked for Cowles Disposal Service, the Mitchell Street car wash and was also self-employed doing landscape work in the area.
Howard was known to be a fun loving guy who was fun to be around and was always joyful. He loved to dance, enjoyed his bingo games, going to OTB and could be called “the gamblin’ man.”
Howard is survived by his mother, Gertrude Miller of Norwich; his children: Roger Miller and wife Elaine of Edmeston, Gloria Cummings of Ithaca, Michael Miller of Florida and Vicki Buchanan and husband Ryan of Edmeston; a half-son Carl Hatton; his sisters and brothers: Roberta Collins of Norwich, Yvonne Miller and husband Gary of Oneonta, Flora Pachina, Alice Nightengale, and Sally Kingsbury and husband Rudy all of Norwich, John (Jack) Miller and wife Janice, Mickey Miller all of Illion, Ronny Miller and wife Cardella of Oklahoma City, Louis Miller and wife Debbie, Carl Miller and wife Rebecca, Rick Miller and Bruce Miller and wife Victoria, all of Norwich. Also surviving are many grandchildren, two great grandchildren Cory Matthew Miller and Neva Angelica Miller along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father Howard, he was predeceased by his brother David Miller and grandson Roger Lee Miller Jr.
Funeral services for Howard will be held at noon on Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Hinman, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church of Norwich, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Norwich.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
