Dwight Dale


EATON – Dwight R. “Dewey” Dale, 59, of Eaton, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY.
He was born March 9, 1954 in DeRuyter, NY, a son of Richard and Patricia Adsit Dale. He was a graduate of Otselic Valley Central School in 1972, and had attended Houghton College and Oswego College. On October 19, 2002, Dwight married Grace Hardwick in Eaton. Dwight was an auditor for the Zurich Insurance Co. for 28 years. He was a talented musician and songwriter who was a member of the bands Tommy Hoe and the Barncats and the Dewey Dollar Band.
Surviving are his wife, Grace; his parents, Richard and Patricia Dale, of Sherburne; children, John and Heather Gelatt, of Albany; Danielle and Scott Hovick, of Burlington; Charlie and Billie Jean Gelatt, of Columbus; Dennis and Jen Gelatt, and Maverick Gelatt, all of Morrisville; a brother, Michael Dale, of Sherburne; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Greg Levengood, of Tully; sister-in-law, Cheryl Dale, of IN; grandmother, Mildred Adsit, of Norwich; grandchildren, Gillian, Rory, Chazz, Cameran and Camille Gelatt, and Mason Hovick; nephews, Nathaniel and Justin Dale, of IN; Jason Levengood, of Tully; niece, Alyssa Levengood, of Tully; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Floyd and Christine Adsit, Lora R. and Gladys Dale; and a brother, Mark Dale.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville, followed by interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Georgetown.
There will be no calling hours.
