McDONOUGH – Frank J. Johnsen, 75, of McDonough formerly of Staten Island passed away on Feb. 18, 2007 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1931 in Brooklyn, the son of the late Charles and Catherine (Moore) Johnsen. On May 19,1956 he married the former Patricia Doman, who survives.
Besides his wife, Patricia of McDonough he is survived by his children, Gregory F. and Therese Joy Johnsen of Chester, N.J., Gary and Karna Johnsen of Bedminster, N.J., Robert of Anthem, Ariz. and Lorraine Johnsen, and Marilyn and Robert Amaniera of Staten Island; his grandchildren, Aileen Johnsen, Gregory A. Johnsen and Erik Johnsen. His sister and brothers, Edith Sundin, Carl Johnsen, and Walter Johnsen predeceased him.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Holmes Protection Co. after 35 years of service. His passion for gardening and landscaping was evident by his work on his property. He was a baseball pitcher and had a tryout with the New York Giants. He also enjoyed sketching and painting and doing crossword puzzles
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Church, Oxford. Burial will be on Saturda at 11:30 a.m. in St. Charles Cemetery, Pinelawn.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
