Kenneth Wilcox


NORWICH – Kenneth C. Wilcox, 48, of County Road 10, Norwich, passed away Tuesday morning (June 6, 2006) in the Upstate Medical Center of Syracuse.
The son of Charles and Jossie (Rounds) Wilcox, Ken was born in Oxford on October 15, 1957. He grew up in McDonough and was a 1975 graduate of the Oxford High School. Ken had worked for Jamesway, as a foreman for the Gladding Corporation, as a District Sales Manager for the Evening Sun where he had been named employee of the month, and for the store in East Pharsalia. He was very dedicated to the East Pharsalia Community Baptist Church and active in it’s programs. He coached the church’s softball league, counseled teenagers within the church, wrote the programs for the plays and Christmas pageant, and organized the Halloween spook walk that benefited a local food pantry. Ken was also a member of, and drummer for, the contemporary Christian music band Daybreak. On October 6, 2001, in East Pharsalia, Ken married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Sayles.
Ken is survived by his wife, Margaret Wilcox; by his step-children, Charla Ackerman and husband, Jason, of Syracuse, Roselynn Clement and husband, Zachary, of Tupper Lake, Stephanie Crate and finance, Ben Bissonette, of Tupper Lake; by his grandchildren, Joshua, Aftan, Jocelyn, Jackson, Gavin, Jayce, Rhiannon, Hailey, and Emily; his sisters, Carol D. Jensen of Norwich and Priscilla Boutlier and husband, David, of Greene; nephew, Kevin; nieces, Roxanne, Heather, Andrea, Jackie, and Lisa along with several great nieces.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jossie.
Memorial services for Ken will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday from the East Pharsalia Community Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Hills and the Rev. Donald Hammond will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
In Ken’s words, “No flowers, please. Better yet, buy some for somebody you love and tell them they’re from me. Same for donations. Pick a nice charity and be generous”.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich.
