OXFORD – Dorothy J. Pinney, 72, of Oxford passed away March 9, 2007 at Gilmour Health Care Facility, Norwich.
She was born on April 27, 1934 in Afton the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Lee) Conpropst. On April 14, 1956 in Oxford she married Walter J. Pinney Sr., who survives.
Besides her husband, Walt; she is survived by her children, Barbara Pinney of Norwich, Debra Pinney of Unadilla, Walter, Jr. and Lu-Ann Pinney of Oxford, Wayne Pinney of Norwich, and William Pinney of Oxford; her sister and brother-in-law, Kate and Robert Place of Oxford; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Susan Conpropst of Afton; her grandchildren, Heather and Jacob Fowlston, Benjamin Pinney, Melissa Bresee, Tonya Bresee, Jourdan Pinney and Julie Pinney and several great grandchildren, including Jonathan Fowlston. Her brothers, Jack Conpropst and Tim Conpropst predeceased her.
She was a wonder mother and grandmother, who enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and the neighbor’s children. She was also a worker and volunteer at the Oxford Head Start. She was a former Sunday School Teacher at the Coventry United Methodist Church. She was often seen walking to Oxford. She enjoyed country music, word find puzzles, playing cards and most any game.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with the Rev. Richard Tosh, chaplain of the Gilmour Health Care Facility, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Gilmour Health Care Facility or the Oxford Fire Department Emergency Squad.
The family will also greet friends on Saturday at noon at the Fort Hill Post, American Legion, Oxford.
