RICHARD GUSTAFSON
NORWICH – Richard F. Gustafson, 63, of North Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, March 26, 2007.
Born in Norwich, the son of Frank R. and Grace Gustafson, he has been a North Syracuse resident for 37 years. Richard was a member of the Airport Crash & Rescue at Syracuse Hancock International Airport for 30 years, retiring in 1998. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the American Legion in Norwich, the South Bay Rod and Gun Club, the Moose Lodge in Norwich, the Eagles in Florida and the Retired Fireman’s Association. Richard loved to golf and belonged to several golf courses in the area.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia (Krygier) Gustafson; his son, Richard K.; two daughters, Kristina G. and Elizabeth A. (Christopher) Welch; his mother, Grace (Benson) Gustafson; a sister, Connie McGee along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Family Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse.
