NORWICH – Clara L. Clink, 65, of Norwich, passed away Thursday morning, March 29, 2007, in the Gilmour Health Care Facility, where she had resided for the past several months.
The daughter of Clarence and Nellie (Watt) King, Clara was born in the Town of Butternuts on Aug. 9, 1941. She grew up in the McDonough and Oxford areas where she attended the local schools, and lived the whole of her life in Chenango County, the last ten years on the Springvale Road. Clara was an extremely easy-going lady who was devoted entirely to her family. They always came first with her, and their needs were looked after before she would see to herself. She had worked for many years for the Dunckle Egg Farm in Preston and for the Ames Store in Norwich.
On April 4, 1970, in Maine, N.Y., Clara married Gene Clink. She is survived by her husband Gene of Norwich, and by her children: Diana King and fiancé Scott Nichols, John Bartle, Wanda Hirsch and husband Chris, all of Norwich; Alice Andrews of Unadilla, Bill Bartle and wife Andrea of Bainbridge, Beatrice Miller and companion Mark Hinman of Oxford, Bamby Beadle and husband Vincent of New Berlin. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, several great grandchildren: her sisters, Theabelle Miller of North Carolina and Lydia (Jane) Arias and husband Jose of Bainbridge; by her brothers: Laverne King of Munnsville, Dutch King and wife Rose of Smyrna, Eugene King of Norwich, Patrick King and wife Diane of Sherburne; and by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Clara will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Mervin Manwarren, pastor of the Holy Spirit CNC Church of Springvale Road, Norwich, will officiate. Interment at a later date will be in the J.D. Lewis Cemetery of Preston. Friends may call at the R J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from noon until the service at 2 p.m.
Clara’s family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
