NORWICH – Isabelle Betty Aloi, 81, of Calvary Drive, Norwich, passed away Saturday evening, March 31, 2007 in the Gilmour Health Care Center, where she had lived for the last several years.
The daughter of Joseph and Amy (Peck) Aloi, Betty was born in Norwich on Feb. 15, 1926. She attended Oxford High School prior to taking nursing training at Montifiore Hospital in New York City. Following her graduation, Betty returned to Norwich to work for the Chenango Memorial Hospital for many years. She was also employed by the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford as well as the Valley View Nursing Home in Norwich. Devoted to her job as a nurse, Betty truly cared about helping others in need. She was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Norwich, enjoyed reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandnieces and grandnephews.
Betty is survived by her sisters: Rosalie E. Alger and Marylie E. Cooley and husband Ray, all of Norwich; and her brother, John L. Aloi and wife Marcia of Westampton, N.J. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Steven Alger and wife Shelly of Norwich, Pam Beilstein and husband Duane of Greenville, Pa.; Lisa Burdick and husband Bill of West Sand Lake, Doug Cooley and wife Maureen of Sherburne, Cindy Oliver of Binghamton, Jeff Cooley and wife Lisa of Middletown, Melissa Borden of Newburgh, Michael Aloi and wife Mary of Kensfield, Calif.; Michelle Walsh and husband Stephen of Chesterfield, N.J.; Beth Mansfield and husband Randy of Parker, Colo.; and Eric Aloi and wife Debbie of Westampton, N.J.; and by several grandnieces and grandnephews. Betty was predeceased by her brother, Joseph A. Aloi, Jr.
Funeral services for Betty will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Fazio, pastor of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 11.
