SOUTH PLYMOUTH – Thomas C. “Tom” Schuster, 49, life-long Norwich resident, passed away Easter Sunday afternoon (April 8, 2007) at his home.
Tom was born in Norwich on January 1, 1958, the son of Charles K. and Irene (Coffey) Schuster. Growing up in Norwich, he graduated from Norwich High School, then worked for Norwich Shoe Company for a time before becoming employed by Victory Markets. During his 16 years with Victory, he acted as Production Supervisor for its Tracy Baking Company division and, during that time, attended the American Institute of Baking in Kansas City. At the close of Victory Markets, Tom worked briefly for Penny Curtis Baking in Syracuse and eventually went to work for J & J Yamaha in Sherburne, where he was currently the Manager of Recreation Sales. A big kid at heart, and an avid outdoors-man, Tom loved to hunt, fish, bow hunt, and to ride and race both snowmobiles and four-wheelers, often in competition with his son, David.
On July 15, 1979, in Norwich, Tom and Tammie L. Murphy were married. Tom is survived by his wife, Tammie Schuster of South Plymouth; by his children: Megan Cheadle and husband Paul of Australia, David Thomas Schuster of South Plymouth, and Lindsay Meyer and husband Matthew of Norfolk, Va; his mother, Irene Schuster of Norwich; and his grandchildren, Charles John and Harry Thomas Cheadle, both of Australia. Tom is also survived by his mother-in-law Marge Murphy of Norwich; sister-in-law Nancy Prentice and husband Brian of New Berlin; brothers-in-law, Matthew Murphy and wife Amy of Plymouth and Luke Murphy of Norwich; and by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his dad, Charles K. Schuster; his sister, Charene; and his father-in-law, Leon Murphy.
A Mass of Resurrection for Tom will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2007 from St. Paul’s Church. The Rev. Douglas Cunningham, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
