NORWICH – David L. Jennings, 64, of Norwich, went to the Lord after an extended illness Easter Sunday morning, (April 8, 2007).
The son of Walter and Ruth (Martin) Jennings, David was born in Canastota on February 23, 1943. He grew up in Oneida, where he was a graduate of the local high school, and served his country in the U. S. Air Force with two tours in Vietnam. David had made his home in Norwich for the last 36 to 37 years, where he was active in the Norwich Fire Department and Norwich Emergency Squad, and acted as a dispatcher for both the Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Department. He had worked for Procter & Gamble, and had been employed as a meter reader by NYSEG for the past 20 years.
On October 28, 1972, David married Georgeanna Jennings, who survives. He is also survived by his sons, Daniel Jennings and David P. Jennings, and his daughter, Tasha Jennings; and his mother, Ruth Jennings. Also surviving are David’s sisters: Diane Grant and husband Boot of Rochester, Eileen Wright and husband David of Endicott, Brenda Jennings of Baltimore, Sheila White and husband Issac of Rochester, and Grace Williamson of Rochester; his brothers: James Jennings and wife Mickey of Rochester, Paul Jennings and wife Betty of Cleveland, NY; Walter Jennings II of Oneida, and Tommy Jennings and wife Lonnie of Arizona; his grandchildren: Kiana, Marley, Elainna, and Marcus Allen; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many friends. David was predeceased by his brother, Sheldon Jennings.
A memorial service for David will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 10 a.m., from the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Whiting of Watertown, will officiate.
Friends are invited to call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
