NORWICH – Robert A. Marotta Sr., 51, of Gold Street, Norwich, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, June 18, 2006 at his camp in the Tall Pines Campground of Bainbridge.
Born in Queens on Nov. 7, 1954, Rob was the son of Anthony and Ruth (Miller) Marotta. In his younger years, he attended and graduated from the Hackensack, N.J., schools and, at the age of 18, moved to Chenango County with his family. On May 16, 1986, in Oxford, Rob married Deborah Evans. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed boating, hunting, and camping, and had worked as a production supervisor at the Raymond Corporation of Greene for close to 30 years.
Rob is survived by his loving wife, Deb; by his children: Robert Marotta Jr., of Marion, Heather Manwarren and husband Leon of Norwich, Ryan Wagner and wife Florence of Cary, N.C., and Corinne Wagner and fiance Jared Delyser of Marion. He is also survived by his mom and step-dad, Ruth and Carl Behrens of Brevard, N.C.; his brother, Christopher Behrens of Florida, and grandchildren Layne, Tessa, Bailee, and Abigail.
Memorial services for Rob will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m.
