BAINBRIDGE – Marcell Manning, 73, of Bainbridge, passed away Wednesday morning, April 25, 2007, in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City following a brief illness.
Born April 26, 1933, in Fredonia, Kentucky, Marcell was the daughter of Sam and Maryon (Catilla) Holloman. She grew up in the Princeton, Ky. area where she attended and graduated from the Butler High School and had attended Murray State University in Murray, Ky. Moving to Norwich as a young woman, Marcell worked as a hostess and waitress in various area hospitality establishments. She also worked with the Chenango County Deputy Sheriffs Association in putting together their annual yearbook. On Oct. 15, 1986, in Virginia Beach, she married Robert Manning. For the past 20 years, Marcell took great pride and joy in making her home a warm and comfortable place for her husband and all who came to visit.
Marcell loved her family, liked laughter and enjoyed her many cherished friends. She lived life to its fullest, traveled the country, never met a stranger, and just loved people. She was a member of the American Legion Post 183 Ladies Auxiliary of Sidney and an associate member of the American Legion Post 189 of Norwich.
Marcell is survived by her husband Robert Manning of Bainbridge; her children: Dawn (John) Foy of Destin, Fla., Diane Howard of Grayson, Ky., and Joseph (Tiffany) Ladner of Virginia Beach, Va.; her grandchildren: Sunny and Jessee Foy, Madeline and Dawson Howard, and Joey and Gracie Ladner. Also surviving are her brothers, Barber “Bob” (Ann) Holloman of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Jerry (Debbie) Holloman of Louisville, Ky.; special cousins Iva Nell Robinson of Princeton, Ky. and Cliff Vickers of San Antonio, Texas, along with numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Jimmie Ray Holloman, and an infant son. Dexter Ladner.
Funeral services for Marcell will be held at noon on Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford of Norwich will officiate.
Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Norwich.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home of Norwich on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
