DORIS CRANDALL
NORWICH – Doris Gifford Crandall, 85, went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2007 at Gilmour Health Care facility, Norwich.
She was born on March 1, 1922 in Plymouth to William and Ceta Blackman. She was a long-time employee at Old World Bakery in Cortland. In her spare time, she enjoyed her flowers, gardening and traveling.
Doris is survived by her husband Richard Crandall of 9 years; brothers and sisters, Helen Markham of Norwich. Fred and Bertha Blackman of Pharsalia, Carl and Mary Blackman of South Plymouth, June Manwarren of Plymouth, Lester Blackman of Preston, Arthur Blackman of Plymouth, Leonard Blackman of Smyrna, Leon and Grace Franklin of Pharsalia, and Leslie and Joyce Blackman of Preston. Also surviving are brother-in-law Edward Horton of Norwich, and stepchildren Celia Yerton, Kathy Hollingsworth and Pat Harne along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her first husband James Gifford, sister Myrtle Horton, sisters-in-law Doris Blackman, Bonnie Blackman, Arleeta Blackman, and brothers-in-law Ray Markham and Sewart Manwarren.
Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
