NORWICH – Robert R. Stockwell, 31, of Holmesville Hill Road, Norwich, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident due to the flooding.
Robert was born on Jan. 29, 1975, the son of Roy and Georgia (Montgomery) Stockwell. A life-long resident of the Holmesville area, he graduated from the Holmesville Christian Academy in 1994 and, on July 4th that same year, married his childhood sweetheart, Jennifer Coy. Both Robert and Jennifer were life-long members of the Holmesville Baptist Church, where they were actively involved with the church’s Sunday school class, the Rosebuds. Robert was a guy who always had a smile on his face and a Mountain Dew in his hand. A man tremendously talented and skilled at woodworking, he had operated his own business, “Robert’s General Contracting,” for the past 12 years; and for the past eight years, had been employed as a mechanic and chemical operator by OSG of Norwich. Robert liked sports and going traveling, which always occurred on the spur of the moment with no planning. He enjoyed a good game of ping pong, and was very good at it. For Robert, there were never enough hours in the day to do all he wanted to do. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Camp Bayouca, a camp for kids comprised from 52 churches, and had donated a lot of work and time to his own church. A compassionate man who would do anything he could for anyone, he was deeply devoted to his family and his children were his focus in life.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jennifer Stockwell; by his children, Kevin, (9), Erica, (8), and Tyler, (4); by his mom and dad, Roy and Georgia Stockwell of South New Berlin; by sisters Amy Stockwell of Indianapolis, Ind.; Barbara Kipp and husband Brian of Red Lion, Pa.; Christine Bordonaro of Conklin; and Elizabeth Stockwell of South New Berlin; and by brothers Martin Stockwell and wife Christa of Addison, and Daniel Stockwell of Mechanicville, Ohio. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ronald “John” and Barb Coy of Holmesville; by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rev. David and Jeanne Coy of Cortland and John and Michelle Little of Oneida; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Holmesville Baptist Church. The Rev. Romeyn Kipp, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery of South New Berlin. Friends may call at the Holmesville Baptist Church on Sat. from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Those wishing to remember Robert with a memorial contribution are asked to send it to Camp Bayouca, Box 204, Marathon, NY 13803.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
