NORWICH – Ruth S. McCollough, 96, of Calvary Drive and formerly of Corning and the Chenango Valley Home, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in the Gilmour Health Care Facility.
Born July 18, 1910 in Westfield, Ruth was the daughter of George and Mary (Faner) Small. A 1928 graduate of Westfield High School, Ruth later received her degree from Fredonia Normal School and her Masters degree from Cortland State Teacher’s College in 1962. She taught elementary school in Corning at both School #3 and Carder School.
On June 29, 1938, in Westfield, Ruth married James W. McCollough. James died in 1998. Ruth is survived by her son, Michael McCollough and his wife, Mary of Norwich; two grandsons, Jeffrey McCollough and his wife, Kristin, of Binghamton and Douglas McCollough of Norwich; two great grandchildren, Noah McCollough of California and Erin McCollough of Binghamton. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Dibble.
Private memorial services for Ruth will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Jamestown.
