NORWICH – Herta Phillips, 83, of Norwich, passed away Sunday morning, July 8, 2007, in the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital of Cooperstown.
Born in Germany on July 5, 1924, Herta came to the United States in the early to mid-1940s. Following her marriage to LeRoy Phillips in 1948, she chose to be a stay-at-home wife and mom. She enjoyed her walks and loved the outdoors.
Herta is survived by her daughter, Christa (Rita) Hartlerode of Norwich; her granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Esslinger and fiance Eric Ryan of South New Berlin, and great granddaughter Madisyn Ryan, as well as brothers and sisters in Germany. She was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy, in September of 2000 and her daughter Elizabeth Ann Phillips.
Memorial services for Herta will be held on Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
