NEW BERLIN – Michael Bruce Hoxie, 54, of New Berlin, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City.
Mike was born April 1, 1953 in New Berlin, a son of John D. and Mary C. (Harshburger) Hoxie. On Dec. 31, 1976, he married Diane M. (VanDyke) Hoxie.
Mike was a life long resident of the New Berlin area and attended New Berlin Central School and SUNY Cobleskill.He worked at Amphenol Corporation in Sidney for 30 years in the plating and shipping departments. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club and Sons of Legionnaire, Sidney. Mike loved his family, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and his work shop where eveyone was welcome.
Besides his wife, Diane, and his mother, Mary Hoxie, he is survived by his children: Cheryl Hoxie and John Keegan of New Berlin, John M. and Piper Hoxie of So. Plymouth; a granddaughter Bailey Miller; a grandson, Wyatt Sands; brothers and/or sisters, Denny and Linda Hoxie of New Berlin, John and Linda Hoxie of Loudenville, Harold and Lori Smith of Coopers Plains and Jean Warner of Virginia Beach, Va; brothers and sister-in-laws, Tim Gregory - Deb Mitros, Dale and Michelle Persons, David Persons, Randy Persons, Dawn and Gary Joslin, Angie and Bryan Mattice, Sue Chapman along with several nieces, nephews and close family members.
Mike was predeceased by his father, John Joxie; father-in-law, George F. Moore and mother-in-law, Katharine E. Moore.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin with the Rev. Gary Folz of the Berean Baptist Church of New Berlin officiating. Calling hours were held Aug. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the New Berlin Emergency Squad or the New Berlin Fire Department.
