OXFORD – Paul E. “Johnny” Lawton, 86, of Oxford passed away at his home on Aug. 8, 2007 following an extended illness.
He was born on April 28, 1921 in Norwich the son of the late William and Grace (Moore) Lawton. On Oct. 21, 1950 in Oxford he married Barbara Lyon, who survives.
Besides his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Thomas and Susan Lawton of Oxford and Edward and Barbara Lawton of Norwich; his grandchildren, Keith Lawton, Teresa Lawton, Kevin Lawton, Alan Lawton and Sam Boyer; his great grandchildren, Connor Lawton and Andrew Lawton; his brothers, Robert Lawton of Oxford, Carl Lawton of Connecticut, and William Lawton of Oxford. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lynn Lawton, Lawrence Lawton and Francis Lawton.
Johnny was a 1939 graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School. He was a dairy farmer on the family farm for his entire life. He was a member of the United Church of Oxford and the Oxford Grange.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Church of Oxford, 25 Main St., Oxford with the Rev. Allen C. Lang, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Members of Oxford Grange will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Oxford.
