NORWICH – Hazel S. Blood, 88, of Norwich, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007 in the Gilmour Health Care Facility, Norwich.
Born Feb. 6, 1919 in Quakertown, Pa., she was the daughter of Oliver and Nellie (Stoneback) Place. She grew up in the Guilford-Oxford area and attended Oxford High School. She married Robert Blood July 8,1939 in Norwich. Hazel worked for McNeil Jewelers for 12 years. Her main interest was spending as much time as possible with her family.
Hazel is survived by her children: Joan and Kenneth Axtell of South New Berlin, George L. and Clarice Blood of Plymouth Reservoir, Susan and Paul Zagami of Norwich, and Helen and Mike Murray of Norwich, her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Katherine Place of Oxford and her grandchildren: Jacqueline Williams, Paul Jr., Leonard and Steven Zagami, Wendy White, Michael Jr. and Jason Murray. Also surviving are 11 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert L. Blood, her son Robert L. Blood Jr., 2 sisters Florence Cosen and Grace Place, her brothers Oliver and Tredwell Place.
Funeral services for Hazel will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Norwich, with the Rev. Glenn Mahaffey, rector, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich.
There will be no calling hours.
