NORWICH – Alan Shapiro, son of the late Rabbi Edward and Mary Shapiro, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 in Brooklyn, New York. He was 58 years old. 
A graduate of both junior and senior high schools in Norwich, he also graduated from Harper College (University of New York at Binghamton) and received his LCSW from New York State University at Albany. He leaves a son, Joshua; and a sister, Claire Zundell-Cameron; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 
In Norwich he was well known for his beautiful cantorial chanting at the Norwich Jewish Centre. He will be missed by all who knew him. 
Funeral services are at Midwood Chapel, Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn, at noon on Wednesday. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in NYC.  Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association, or the American Liver Foundation.
