SOUTH OTSELIC – Doris J. Huntley, 82, formerly of South Otselic, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, in the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital, where she had resided.
The daughter of Clyde and Beatrice (Banks) Jordan, Doris was born in the family home in Otselic in 1924. She grew up in South Otselic where she attended and graduated from the local schools. Doris had made her home in South Otselic for many years prior to the deterioration of her health which made it necessary for her to move to the hospital’s nursing home unit. She always enjoyed being with her family, and loved to play bingo every chance she got. A woman who never said a cross word to anyone under any circumstances, Doris was a source of inspiration and encouragement to her family and friends with her positive attitude and kind manner.
Doris is survived by her children and their spouses: Alan and Peggy Huntley of South Otselic, Arnie and Kay Huntley of South Otselic, Sue and Robert Casse of Norwich, and Lori and Grant Preston of Taylor; her sister, Esther Miles of Florida; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Hahn.
Funeral services for Doris will be held on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 1:30 p.m. from the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home. Doris’ son-in-law, Grant Preston, will officiate. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery of South Otselic. Friends are invited to call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the service at 1:30.
