OXFORD – Norma G. Carpenter, 71, of Oxford, passed away on Aug. 27, 2007 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City. 
She was born on Jan. 25, 1936 in Oxford, the daughter of the late Gerald and Beatrice Stevens. In 1959 she married Fred Carpenter, who passed away on Sept. 4, 2005.
 She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Mark and Marie Carpenter of Phenix City, Alabama; her grandson Anthony Carpenter of Phenix City; her sisters, Elizabeth Long and Ruth Lorimer both of Oxford and a niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be held at Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene at 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Allen C. Lang, pastor of the United Church of Oxford, officiating.
