SHERBURNE – Neal W. Chesebro, 79, of State Route 80 East, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at Wilson Regional Medical Center, Johnson City.
Born Aug. 12, 1928 in Sherburne, he was the eldest child of the late Fred G. and Mildred Tripp Chesebro. He attended Sherburne schools and was a graduate of Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College with a degree in Automotive Technology. On Aug. 12, 1948, Neal was married to Ruth Locke in Sherburne. He had retired from the City of Norwich Highway Department. Previously, he was the DPW Supervisor for the Village of Oxford, worked for Ellinwood Auto Parts in Norwich, F&S Fuel Service in Greene, J.W. Greene Auto Body in Greene, Christman Motors Auto Body in Norwich and Phillip L. Card Auto Body in Norwich .
He spent the last few years developing the property where he and Ruth reside. He loved the outdoors and took special pride in his own personal touches to the landscaping of his home. Neal cherished the times he had with friends and family. He had an open invitation for people to stop by, share a cup of coffee and talk.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth; his children, Connie and Gary Morack of Norwich ; Carolyn and Michael Highland of Sedro-Wooley, WA; Craig and Pam Chesebro of Oxford; Chris and Ginny Chesebro of Norwich; Cindy and William Comings of South Plymouth; brother-in-law, Harry Conley of Earlville; sister-in-law, Anne Chesbro of Syracuse ; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Neva Conley and two brothers, Ned Chesebro and Norman Chesbro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial in the Riverview Cemetery, Oxford .
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
