NEW BERLIN – Dorothy L. Starr, 82, of New Berlin, passed away Nov. 14, 2007 in New Berlin.
She was born June 26, 1925 in Plainfield, the daughter of LeRay and Bessie (Williams) Hill. Dorothy lived all of her life in the New Berlin area and attended one-room schools in New Berlin.
On July 12, 1942 in Pittsfield, she married Lee G. Starr. He predeceased her on Oct. 24, 1986.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Robert (& wife Margaret) Starr of New Berlin; a daughter, Mrs. Verne (Holly) Camenga of Lowville; five grandchildren: Ian L. Starr (and wife Susan) of Raleigh, N.C., Craig T. Starr (and wife Courtney) of Sidney, Greta S. Starr of Edmeston, Mrs. James (Shannon) Molloy of Albany, and Jenny L. Camenga of Lowville; four great grandchildren: Kyle T. Starr of Raleigh, N.C.; Garrett T. Starr, Zachary Starr, and Michael Chase of Sidney.
She was predeceased by a brother, Marvin Hill and a sister, Elizabeth Dye.
Mrs. Starr was a babysitter in her home for many years. She also worked for the Chenango County Head Start of New Berlin for several years. Most recently she worked as a Senior Companion for Broome Developmental, New Berlin. Mrs. Starr was an avid reader who enjoyed animals, especially her cats.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Dakin Funeral Home LP of New Berlin, with the Reverend John Hill officiating.
