Clinton Clark


MT. UPTON – Clinton A. Clark, 87, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 17, 2007 at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford.
Clinton Clark was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Coudersport, Pa.  He graduated from Ithaca College in June, 1941, and was hired to teach music in Georgetown.  He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in World War II until October 1945.  During this time he flew 30 missions over Germany while based in England and was later a member of General Jimmy Doolittle’s crew in the Asiatic Theater.  In 1949 he moved to Mt. Upton where he taught until June of 1975.
He was a member of Mensa and over the years acquired three master’s degrees, two from Colgate University in music and administration, and one from Oneonta State College in English.  At the end of his career, he was teaching both music and English.
He was choir director of the Mt. Upton United Methodist Church for many years where he attended regularly until he entered the NYS Veterans’ Home.
Clinton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjory Elmore Clark; two daughters and their spouses, Tamara and Richard Cardinal of Huntington, and Lauralyn and Roy Clark-Pfleger of Oxford; two sons and their spouses, Scott and Kay Clark of Greene, and Lincoln and Gail Clark of Waldorf, Md.  An extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews on both sides of the family were an integral part of his life, also survives him.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Mt. Upton United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. on Friday.  
In lieu of flowers friends may make a donation to the United Methodist Church, Mt. Upton.
