NORWICH – Margaret M. “Peg” Aldrich, 89, formerly of Meads Pond, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at the Gilmour Health Care Facility.
Born March 19, 1918 in Norwich, Peg was the daughter of John M. and Maryetta (Burdick) Davern. A member of St. Paul’s Church, Peg attended St. Paul’s parochial school in its old building which formerly stood at the present site of Eckerd’s Drug Store on North Broad Street. She graduated from there in 1931 and attended Norwich High School from 1931 until her graduation in 1935. Peg worked as a secretary for John O. Marshall, Sr. Law Office from 1948 until 1962. She then worked in the Trust Department of NBT and at the Norwich Pharmacal Company and shortly in the office of Dr. John Hollis.
On Aug. 6, 1938, Peg married Lawrence J. “Larry” Aldrich. Larry passed away on Aug.11, 1995. Peg enjoyed bowling for many years as well as playing golf and following professional football. She also enjoyed writing family genealogies.
Peg is survived by two cousins, Norine Button and Bill Curie, both of Norwich. She was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Jane Davern.
Graveside services for Peg will be held at the convenience of the family and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Funeral Home.
